New Orleans | Wilhelminapier, Rotterdam This is my final project at Aarhus School of Architecture. The project is situated at Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam, a harbour area now undergoing a tremendous transformation to a mini-Manhattan. Wilhelminapier is divided into three strips; dwelling, culture and commerce. The site, located to the south is part of the dwelling strip and very close to Rijnhaven. The building has a h-shape to avoid blocking the view of the buildings on the middle of the pier. This furthermore leaves space on the ground creating a public space of recreation with direct access to the water. Connecting the two towers are "The Bridge", a public space 70 meters in the air. From the Bridge you can see the entire city. |
